Insulin Resistance Diet Information – Disclaimer

As the title of this website suggests, my aim is to provide information about Insulin Resistance with respect to diet. I am someone who suffers from this condition and I do not have a medical background. The posts on this website are designed to offer information to people in the same situation and to document what has been useful for me.

The site is very specifically about an insulin resistance diet, it is not just a generic weight loss blog.

The advice and suggestions on this site may not work for everyone. If you have insulin resistance, it may not even be diet related. You may have an endocrine or metabolic disorder that cannot be fixed by diet alone. You may have NAFLD (non alcoholic fatty liver disease), a pancreatic disorder or thyroid problems as well as insulin resistance. You may just have a genetic predisposition to insulin resistance. In these cases, dietary changes alone may not have much effect and you need to seek professional medical advice.

For most people with insulin resistance, the changes in diet will result in improvement. Exercise is also crucial to your success in getting insulin resistance under control – just walk for 20 minutes every other day to start. However, if you make changes to your diet as described in these pages, and exercise at least every 48 hours, and you do not see any improvement after a few weeks, you should consult a doctor. In any case, insulin resistance needs to be monitored regularly as it is the precursor to Type 2 diabetes.
